First Affordable "Smart Home" System Will Enable Individuals to Remotely Monitor, Control Their Homes and Businesses-On Display at CES in Silver Pavilion and in Sun Microsystems' Connected Lifestyle Showcase

VEGAS CES, 2001 (BOOTH #24926),
JANUARY 8, 2001

Xanboo, the first completely integrated Internet management system that enables individuals to remotely monitor and control their homes or businesses via the Internet, has won the Consumer Electronic Show's prestigious "Innovations 2001 Design and Engineering Showcase" award. Selection as an Innovations winner is CES's highest honor, according to show sponsor-the Consumer Electronics Association.

This year's Innovations awards, which annually recognize the most innovative products in every category of consumer electronics, are given in conjunction with the 2001 International CES, which expects to draw more than 110,000 retailers, distributors and other consumer technology executives from around the world. This year's honorees were selected by a panel of industry experts with the participation of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), and will be showcased in the Innovations 2001 display area, booth #24143 in the Silver Lot Pavilion. Xanboo will also be exhibiting in Upside's Digital Living Room, booth #24926 in the Silver Lot Pavilion and in Sun Microsystems' Connected Lifestyle Showcase, booth #N235 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

"We are honored to be acknowledged by CES and the IDSA as one of this year's most innovative consumer electronics products," said Robert Diamond, chairman and CEO of New York City-based Xanboo, Inc. "We believe that Xanboo is the first inexpensive, plug-and-play product and service offering to truly deliver on the promise of 'smart home' technology-allowing millions of American an easy and affordable way to remotely view and manage their homes or businesses. We are also thrilled to be invited to exhibit in Upside's Digital Living Room with other emerging technologies and in Sun Microsystems' Connected Lifestyle Showcase booth."

A low cost and easy to install "smart home" system, Xanboo meets a wide variety of lifestyle and business needs. Using a standard browser to access their own secure, password-protected account on the Xanboo Web site (www.xanboo.com), users are able to remotely view multiple locations; control equipment and lighting; observe equipment and operations; and be notified via e-mail, cell phone or page when events occur such as motion on the premises, power interruptions, changes in temperature, water presence from leaks, if a window or door is opened, or noises such as glass breaking.

Xanboo designs and produces all the elements in the system-a major factor in keeping costs low and the product fully integrated. The Xanboo basic system includes color video cameras with motion detectors, the Xanboo System Controller, and all necessary software to install the systems and configure the user's personal Xanboo.com web pages. A range of accessory cameras, sensors, and control modules will allow users to customize installation for their home or business. While the system works over both dial-up and broadband Internet connections, the "always-on" nature of broadband significantly enhances the value and responsiveness of the system.

Xanboo will be available at retail nationwide beginning in early 2001 through CompUSA, OfficeMax, TigerDirect, CDW and others. The starter kit-which includes the Xanboo System Controller, one color camera with audio and motion detection, extension cables and the installation software-will be offered at a suggested retail price of $179.95. Additional cameras will be offered at a suggested retail price of $79.95, and sensors will be available at $24.95. The monthly service fee for unlimited access to a Xanboo Web site account and notifications will be $9.95.
